Alt-Rock Radio: Collector’s Edition

Collector’s Edition is a live-lit show about pop music. Join us as we debut at Upstairs Gallery in Andersonville for an hour of pop culture history lessons, personal essays and maybe even a singalong? It’s gonna get deep.

This month Collector’s Edition will be taking a lot at Alt-Rock radio stations of the 90’s. Radio used to be the most driving force in the evolution of pop music, but today it’s a relic of the past; not much more than an antiquated nickname for internet playlists. Though the lens of the 90’s alt-rock movement that raised our generation of music obsessives, we intend to explore what happened to the radio, what we’re missing in this world of streaming media, and how we can get it back.

Collector’s Edition is Sean Rose, Conor Sullivan Rick Joyce and Jason Young.

The first group is a house team at Annoyance called ‘Feel”. The second is ‘Vault’ with Mike Schminke, Erin Lann, Greg Iwinski Matt Tucker and Mike Aviles. The third group is ‘Quarter Masted’ with Mike Schminke, Ben Kass (from Michael Pizza), A.J. Platt and Melissa Cameron.

We’re putting up a run of the rarely performed “Living Room” and “Bat” improv forms every Thursday in October!

Join us as we transform the Upstairs Gallery’s studio room into A MAD SCIENTISTS LAB TO RESURRECT THESE TWO FORMS FROM BEYOND THE GRAVE. ITS GONNA GET SPOOOOKY.

Both forms performed by new random assortments of Chicago Improvisers each week.
