Upstairs Gallery Bulletin #39 (1/30-2/5) “True Patriot Love”

We’re wrapping up another eventful month this week! January was one of our busiest months yet and it looks like February is going to be more of the same. Maybe that’s just the way it is now! Stay tuned this week for more information about our February shows, below are a few sneak previews of what we have in store. ALSO, NO SHOWS THIS SUNDAY AS SAM AND I WATCH OUR NE PATRIOTS TAKE ON THE NY GIANTS IN WHAT IS SURE TO BE AN EMOTIONALLY DESTRUCTIVE/INTENSE SPECTACLE NO MATTER WHAT THE OUTCOME. The only show that night will be our already frayed nerves being pushed to the breaking point. THIS WEEK AT THE GALLERY!

Jake Schneider has long been one a favorite improviser of the Upstairs Gallery staff and we are overjoyed to be the site of his latest endeavor. Get more info on classes here.

Kill All Comedy

Steph Cooks monthly dare to the improv comedy community. 

“I DARE YOU TO FUCKING WRITE SOMETHING.”

This weeks thrill seeking participants:

• The Dirty Shame (lee and matt barats) - just two barats bros doing their bro stuff you normally don’t show anyone else.
• Blythe Haaga/Allison Yolo - if these two had a tv show, it’d be like if mary tyler moore and who’s the boss had a baby (i’ve never seen who’s the boss?).
• Aarón Alonso - if you don’t know aaron alonso, you are an innocent.
• Jo Scott - winner of a bunch of contests and probably tomorrow’s biggest cbs star.
• Christina Boucher - only the biggest balla in town, and she will make you cry, maybe for different reasons.
• Jon Silver - his last name is silver, but he’s all gold, and if you like murder, you’ll like jon (he might be on the run from the law, i don’t know, he won’t tell me!).
• TV Screams (steph cook and joey dundale) - these guys are like the future of skateboarding, like if this is 1970 venice beach and we’re all skateboarders, but it’s 2012 and we don’t live in california.
• Danstiny (irene marquette and katy fullan) - if you want dance to be your destiny, and if you want to get skinny with seductive moves, you gotta come see danstiny.

Thursdays- (February 2, 9)- 8pm, Free ($Donations Accepted), BYOB

If you have ever been in the service industry, have been embarassed by your friend’s behavior in a restaurant, eaten in a restaurant, or have heard the word restaurant- Come see 86’d! A one-woman scripted show by Courtney Arnett. Directed by Amanda Blake Davis.

Donations will go to MD Anderson Cancer Center in honor of James W. Arnett.
